mediation day. it’s victor and micheal one one side of the table; victoria, abby and vance on the other. the mediator is a retired judge (i think). the ruling: 1/3 of newman enterprises will be frozen until the end of the lawsuit. what do you do when 1/3 of your assets of the company you built from scratch are now frozen over a lawsuit brought by your daughters? hold a press conference, of course.
while the tele-visual images captured by the on-screen camera are never shown, the devices used to watch victor’s press-conference are:
but what, exactly, does newman enterprises do? how does victor make all his money (other than crashing hedgefunds to frame adam for murder and keeping abby’s trust fund away from her since she wants to start a reality tv show)? newman enterprises is some kind of conglomerate with interests in cosmetics, real estate development, medical research, energy and so on. they also buy and sell a lot of other business. and these frozen assets are going to be bad for this buying and selling. so how will the business survive? by cutting 10% of their workforce. victor pretends to b sad about all the firings, but we know better: capital’s dream has always been to liberate itself from labor.
jack drops by to gloat in victor’s recent troubles, but find, again, that victor is one step ahead:
jack's robot-son: "we're living at victors's now. isn't it great?"
diane and victor have already started cordinating outfits
elsewhere,
victoria to nick: “i have all the money in the world, but the one thing i want [a baby with billy], money can’t buy.” i think billy and victoria may have a communication problem. billy’s out buying victoria a baby right now.
and, heather gets ronan to admit that chance is alive.
and, daniel is awake but can’t remember details from his confrontation with daisy (even, or especially, with phyllis, michael and jack at the hospital pressuring him to remember).
and, adam has been released from jail thanks to the time-stamp on this photo:
